Grew up in Cudahy and started in club repair at nineteen, doing regrips and re-shafts in
the back of a north side pro shop. Eleven years there taught him mostly what he did not want
to run, and he opened this bench in 2009 with a
frequency analyser bought secondhand from a closing shop in Rockford.
He does the assembly work on every set that leaves, and he is the one who signs the
tolerance line on the as-built sheet. If a club comes back for any reason, he is the one who
opens it.

Fitting lead, irons and wedges
Six seasons running short game clinics at a busy public course south of the city, which
means she has watched several thousand amateurs try to hit a fifty yard pitch off wet
Wisconsin turf. That is the background she brings to the wedge bench, and it shows in how
much attention she pays to sole shape and turf condition rather than loft alone.
She also runs every gapping session, because working out where the yardage holes are in a
bag is closer to teaching than it is to building.

Came out of a bicycle wheel-building shop, which turns out to be excellent preparation for
this work: the same patience with tension, tolerance and repeated measurement. He handles
regripping, loft and lie corrections, shaft pulls and the final tolerance audit.
Every finished club passes across his bench before it goes in a bag. He is allowed to
reject anything, including Marek's work, and he does.
