Why there is only one bay

Marek spent eleven years repairing clubs in the back of a bigger operation on the north side. The fitting floor out front had four bays and two fitters, which meant the fitter was always halfway through somebody else's session. Numbers got taken, recommendations got made, and the build order went to a factory two states away. When the clubs came back three weeks later, nobody checked them against the order. Sometimes they matched. Often enough they did not, and the golfer never found out because there was no reference document to compare against.

That is the whole origin of this shop. One bay means one golfer at a time and no divided attention. The build room behind it means the person who took the measurement is the person who cuts the shaft. And the as-built sheet exists so that in three years, when something feels off, there is a piece of paper that says what the club was on the day it left.

What we are not

We do not stock a wall of complete clubs to sell you off the rack. We do not run a simulator lounge, we do not have a bar, and we cannot fix a swing. Plenty of good businesses do those things and several of them are within twenty minutes of here. If what you want is an afternoon of screen golf with a friend, book that instead. It will be more fun.

We also do not promise distance. A fitting can find yards that your current clubs are throwing away through bad lie angles, mismatched mass or a shaft that loads at the wrong moment. It cannot manufacture yards that your swing does not produce. Anybody quoting you a specific number before they have watched you hit is guessing, and probably selling.

Independent, and it costs us money

There is no manufacturer quota on this bench. No brand pays for shelf placement, nobody sends us volume targets, and the head and shaft library gets bought outright rather than consigned. That is an expensive way to run a component shop. It also means that when we tell you the eighty dollar shaft in your current driver is the right one and the four hundred dollar shaft is not, there is no reason to doubt it.

The most profitable session we could run is the one where you buy everything. The most common session we actually run is the one where you buy two things and keep the rest.

The building

We are on Kinnickinnic Avenue in Bay View, in a narrow brick storefront that used to be a print shop. The bay is at the back, the bench is behind that, and the front third is a waiting area with a coffee machine and a shelf of shafts you are welcome to pick up. Street parking is free after six and on Sundays. The Oklahoma Avenue bus stops two doors down.

Ceiling height in the bay is eleven feet six inches, which is enough for a driver swing from anyone under about six foot four. If you are taller than that, tell us when you book and we will schedule an outdoor session at a range we work with off Howell Avenue instead.

How to work with us

Start with the session list and pick the one that matches the part of your bag that is causing trouble. If you are not sure, call and describe the miss. Ten minutes on the phone regularly saves a golfer from booking the wrong bench. Once you are scheduled, read how a session runs so nothing is a surprise, and bring the clubs you actually play, dirt and all.
